It is the riding apparel that has to deliver the main
contribution to passive safety: Only the apparel can protect the rider
from injuries caused by abrasion and torsion in the case of a fall as
well as dampen impact energy.
The attire can also make an invaluable contribution towards a rider's
active safety: Keeping his physical and mental capabilities at peak levels
instead of tiring him, straining him or impairing his ability to focus.
Safety is therefore inseparably linked to comfort.
Furthermore, in this era of high tech it would also be conceivable to
integrate systems into the apparel that support or even enhance sensual
perception, for example by increasing visual perception of the terrain
and other road users under impaired visibility conditions, display information
about road conditions et cetera.
