Rukka's
contribution to the Smart Rider's Outfit is the two-piece SRO Suit, combining
the optimum of all safety and comfort features available in textile motorcycling
apparel today. The upper material consists mainly of the highly abrasion
resistant, waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex 3-layer laminate Armacor,
whose optimum protection and pleasant wearing comfort were confirmed after
independent testing by the German automobile association ADAC.
The suit's sides are equipped with elastic Gore-Tex, enabling the wearer
to choose a multitude of riding positions. This is a comparatively new
material which, outside of motorcycling apparel, up to now is only used
in top quality ski and outdoor fashion.
Apart from Armacor, in some areas reflectively coated Cordura 500 is
used to guarantee the wearer maximum visibility at night in other road
users' headlights.
The Smart
Rider's Outfit's removable inner jacket has an absolute first in motorcycling
apparel: AirVantage adjustable Insulation by W. L. Gore Inc. The system
consists of two connected breathable and waterproof textile laminates
with inflatable air-chambers. A valve located inside the collar allows
the wearer to inflate the inner jacket according to his momentary thermal
insulation requirements. Prior to riding in cold conditions, for example,
it is possible to maximize the AirVantage insert's thermal insulation
by fully inflating it.
Should temperatures rise or the rider commence with bodily exercise during
breaks, he can deflate the insert fully or partially, thereby reducing
thermal insulation as far as he wants. On especially hot days, the inner
jacket can be completely removed while maintaining full accident protection.
As the 3-layer laminate Armacor has its own Gore-Tex membrane, weather
protection is also maintained to 100 percent.
Additionally,
the Smart Rider's Outfit features the revolutionary Outlast technology
to even out temperature changes, whose functionality managed to convince
numerous buyers of the Rukka products APR2, Lady APR2 and Armatech as
well as Rukka Outlast functional underwear and accessories during the
past season already. Due to so-called phase change materials (PCM) as
used in space flight technology, Outlast keeps the micro climate inside
the suit at a comfortable balance even under quickly changing thermal
conditions. The rider gets hot less quickly and also chills out less quickly
if the temperature drops - the best prerequisites for active riders who
want to enjoy their hobby without any stress.
But the Rukka SRO jacket has even more innovative and functional details,
among them for example the newly designed collar, which is especially
high and has a soft neoprene border lining. To be absolutely draft-proof,
the Rukka SRO jacket comes standard with a removable, elastic Gore-Tex
neck warmer which is zipped into the jacket on the inside.
The same
material is used on the inner part of the two-ply sleeve ends which were
designed to provide the perfect connection between sleeves and gloves:
draft- and waterproof, non-flap and at the same time easy and comfortable
to put on. The sleeve ends were optimised for a perfect connection to
the Rukka Gore-Tex Outlast gloves, whose short cuffs fit comfortably between
inner sleeve and upper material.
The outside pockets' design is a further highlight. For optimum accessibility,
they were placed horizontally in the lower chest area. Even without flaps
these pockets are completely protected against moisture due to sophisticated
waterproof zips. Additional, freely hanging inner pockets help keep things
tidy and leave no chance for any water to break in even if the pockets
are opened in the rain. An additional smart card compartment, tailored
for credit cards, drivers' licences and other computer readable cards,
is accessible from the outside. Two inside pockets, one of which equipped
with a mobile phone compartment, round off the SRO jacket's storage capacity.
Like the
inner jacket, the Rukka SRO trousers' removable lining is equipped with
Outlast fabric to even out temperature changes. Below the knees, it is
not connected to the upper material, for it is meant to be worn inside
the special Daytona SRO boots. The upper material, in contrast, is worn
above the boots and thereby prevents water getting into them.
In the seat area, the Rukka SRO trousers feature the Rukka AirCushion
System as inner lining. Due to its mesh structure, this innovative material
acts as a climate buffer that reduces condensation and thereby enhances
riding comfort considerably. On the outside, the Rukka SRO trousers are
equipped with Keprotec Antiglide for especially safe grip on the seat.
